Bobby Morrison NEWTON Bobby "Bob" Gene Morrison, 84, of Newton passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Abernethy Laurels. He was born June 2, 1933, in Cleveland County, to the late George Phillip Morrison and Cora Crouch Morrison. Bob was a U. S. Army Veteran, member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, and member of Bandy's Fire Department for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Linda Lowe Morrison of the home; son, Wesley Morrison and wife, Angie of Newton; daughter, Bonita Black and husband, David of Newton; brother, Fred Morrison of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Amber Black, Whitney Morrison Hughes and husband, Cody, Stephanie Morrison Dellinger and husband, Michael; great-grandchild, Peyton Myla Hughes arriving, April 7th. A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Sunday, March 25, at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. The Rev. Michael Staton will officiate. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 25, from 2 to 3:45 p.m., at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church.
