BRIEF: AMC Museum plans Veterans Day observance

Dover Post - 10/28/2018

Oct. 28--The Air Mobility Command Museum will hold its annual Veterans Day observance beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

It is free to all, Museum Director John Taylor said.

The day's guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Col. Eugenia Thornton and the Milford Community Band will provide a medley of music honoring all veterans.

The museum's gates will open at 9 a.m. and seating inside the AMCM hangar will begin at 10 a.m. Seating is limited, Taylor said.

Special guest will be World War II veteran and B-17 pilot Ray Firmani, who will be signing copies of his memoirs, "Against All Odds."

Two of the museum's static display aircraft, a C-5A Galaxy and C-141B Starlifter, will be open until 3 p.m.

The entire event, including parking, is free.

The AMC Museum is accessible from Delaware Route 9 and military identification is not required. The museum's facilities, specifically the hangar, the outside ramp, and the C-141B are handicap accessible.
